I sort of threw myself in at the deep end with my first ever VJ gig, I had just met the Yeast collective and they introduced me to the basics of VJing, then I met a reggae promoter in a cultural archive in Brixton. He asked me to work with him, providing live mixed video clips as a backdrop to his concerts..
I didn’t realise how full on it would be, Morgan Heritage are such a hugely successful band and the venue was incredible.
Here is a very short video clip
I do a lot of work with archive footage most of which I share on my blog http://www.archivefootagepicks.com but thought I would share more here too.
Here are 2 fairly recent showreels, the first I made for Rex features, they are a celebrity photo agency who have recently teamed up with Shutterstock
And this is a British Movietone News showreel that I made for a recent partnership with ITN Source.
I haven’t been here for ages.. I’ve actually been thinking of how I will progress this blog as it started as a VJing blog and I no longer VJ, I still shoot a lot of footage and work with footage as my day job. Hopefully I will try to add more creative videos to this space as recently it seems to just be stock footage.
I’ve a few other online spaces that I update more regularly, in particular my main blog
www.phloem.co.uk which features more of my creative output,
www.archivefootagepicks.com which showcases just a few of my archive footage finds.
https://cymarin.wordpress.com is a fairly new blog on gaming 🙂
And I try to keep highlights of all my endeavours on my ‘official’ website
To kick things off here is an edit I made of remastered NASA footage cut to the Mass Effect theme tune.
Hi, I had an amazing time shooting clips of a ruin on the Kent coast, formerly a medieval church it is slowly being eroded by the sea.
I tried to capture its silent decay in these clips which are available for use in your project from my Pond5 ruins collection
I have lots of new artifacts stock footage clips to share with you, including some cat mummies, Anglo-Saxon war masks, and some beautifully carved chess pieces, these are available for use in your project and can be found in my Pond5 portfolio
Hi, I finally got round to buying a new camcorder which has a better image stabilisation system.
I’ve been concentrating on shooting quality stock footage clips (rather than quantity) so will be uploading new images in small batches.
Here is my first selection of clips which include St Paul’s Catherdral in London on a beautiful spring day with a stunning blue sky.
They are available for use in your project from Pond5 in my London landmarks collection
and some vintage 35mm film cans in my Media collection
I’ve been looking back at some photos from VJing in Trafalgar Square, these were mainly gigs organised by Yeast and other VJ collectives. I think I performed there around 4 times, and had a short film screened there which made it into several national newspapers. 🙂 Oh how I miss my Vj days.. 😉
